Urnerboden Bike

The largest and most wonderful alp in Switzerland is Urnerboden, where in summer up to 1200 cows graze. There is plenty of nostalgia, down-to-earth ambience, and you can enjoy the local produce like alpine cheese.
Having biked a short way on the Klausenpass road, you branch off on the nature trail which leads to the Wängi alp.
The gradual ascent is comfortable and leads you along lush alpine meadows past the Orthalten alp to the Fiseten pass - at 2036 m above sea level the highest point of the tour - which is ideal for a rest. Enjoy the hard to beat panoramic views over Urnerboden, the Klausen pass, the Clariden glacier and the Glarus mountains, before you treat yourself to the downhill ride past the Gemsfairenhüttli alp.

The next part again includes a climb: up to the Klausen pass at 1948 m above sea level. The view gets your heart pumping and the restaurant offers meal options in high alpine air. Next you bike along the historic Klausenpass road down the valley. Beneath Chlus you bike on the old military road, which winds itself along narrow zigzags through the gorge to Jägerbalm. The last part along the cool river Fischbach is on an attractive single trail, all the way back to the starting point of Port.

Hints

Tours with an e-mountain bike
The tourism organisations had these routes registered specifically as e-mountain bike routes. Technically, they are not too difficult, no passages where the bike has to be carried, short sections where it needs to be pushed, and doable with one battery charge (max. 1000 -1200 m altitude difference).
