Fronalp Bike
Glarus–Glarus
Mountainous route, primarily on paved roads with excellent views of the Linth valley and the nearby mountains. The highest section on the Fronalp coincides with the Schabziger Alpine Trail, a theme path illustrating a regional cheese specialty.
The tour begins in Glarus and after a 180-degree left turn the road begins to climb in the direction of Ennetberge. The section across the high plain is a bit easier on the legs. It is followed by another ascent with a short single trail and a carrying section leading to a spectacular viewpoint near the Friends of Nature hut. The route then continues on the Schabziger Alpine Trail to Mullerenberg. This theme path offers interesting facts about a local cheese specialty. In clear weather, the views range across the entire Linth plain up to the upper part of Lake Zurich. The downhill section to Mollis is an exciting fast ride. The last part of the tour from Mollis via Nestal back to Glarus follows the valley floor.
